How do I write a blog about Summer activities when in reality there isn't much going on.😂....well I make up my own adventures!
Communities around the world are feeling the effects that COVID-19 is having on their daily life. In light of recent events, I've had a couple of months to do a major overhaul on the TriCities Family Fun website partly because I never had the time but mostly because I'm saddened to see all of the businesses slowly closing and felt I needed to do my part to help out in any way possible. If you know of a business that is struggling or about to close, please send me their information and I would be happy to promote them on my social media platforms. It is important that we #supportlocal small businesses to help them thrive and survive. Summer is my favorite time of year because farms are kind enough to open their doors to allow us to view a piece of their hard work so take advantage of checking out all the u-pick farms in our area. Farmers markets are open and ready to serve you but please note there are restrictions in place.

As I am writing this our water parks have been shut down for the Summer and conditions of this changing are uncertain from day to day. Just a reminder for your own safety, please don't use irrigation canals as a pool. We are surrounded by beautiful rivers but remember if you plan to head out to the water use caution and take a life jacket. For more water safety tips, check out the Water Safety Program.
A compilation of schools offering summer meals for kids are available here. There are currently some Virtual Summer programs being offered and I will update the list as I see more so check back often. It's not too late to sign up for Richland and MidColumbia Libraries Summer reading program. It's free and open to all ages. Win prizes, read books and make art! Manhattan Project National Historical Park (Hanford Unit) along with Richland Parks and Recreation will also be offering 12 weeks of Virtual Pop up play days for our community packed with activities.
I'm born and raised here but there is so much I haven't seen and I'm determined to get out explore and experience more of our part of the world. My kids have started a Summer bucket list! While it might not be a typical Summer, we are ready for all sorts of fun expeditions. If you want to follow our adventures, check out the TFF Instagram.
If you decide to venture out to find a waterfall or explore a new park, there are plenty of options available but don't forget if you go too far to check the website to see if the park is open before you go. The TFF website will be a great aid in giving ideas for activities to maintain our mental health whether that be family camping, hiking, grabbing some takeout to the park, or staying at home and doing activities with your kids. It is open for anyone to view and seek their own adventure.
Have fun and be safe!
