Happy Thanksgiving everyone! This year has definitely been eventful in more ways than I can count but there is no reason why we can't still have fun and safely spread some holiday cheer.
In an effort to brighten the holidays this year, I have created a holiday lights map. The holidays lights map is not your typical event it's a way for everyone to enjoy a FREE holiday lights tour with a destination in mind. The interactive map will include homes in TriCities and the surrounding areas and will be available on the Tricities Family Fun website for everyone to view from the warmth and safety of your own vehicle on your own schedule. While the map is currently available, I will be adding homes daily until December 15. When viewing the interactive map you can click on the individual home thumbnail to see details such as viewing times, dates and in some cases a radio station will be listed that plays holiday tunes simultaneously with the light show. While we won't be having family over for the holidays, it's important to add some normalcy back in our kids lives. What kid or kid at heart doesn't love blasting some holiday classics, while viewing a vivid light show such as The Showalter Christmas Light display or Christmas Carol Lane? I think this year more than ever we could really use this as a way to brighten our day.
If you or someone you know would like to be included on the map, just have them sign up on this form. You don't have to make special accommodations to be included in the map. All you have to do is put up your holiday lights like you would normally do and fill out the form. As soon as you complete the form, I would be happy to include your home on the map to share with our community. Our community is filled with beautiful homes sure to spread some cheer and make this season brighter.
While it's still early in the season, be sure bundle up and keep an eye on the Holiday Celebrations summary. I will be updating the list daily. While it feels like restrictions change hourly, I will still be sharing a compilation of events that our community has to offer such as locations for Santa and his reindeer, the lighted boat parade, horse drawn wagon rides, and Santa letter drop off locations. Information for new years will be added as the date gets closer but I will also be including virtual events. The details will all be part of my holiday celebrations summary. A quick tip for the upcoming lighted boat parade on December 4 & 5: show up early and park waterfront. Believe me there are plenty of spots but if you show up early you have unlimited options and you'll stay warm.
This year Red Mountain Trails will be renting private bonfire spots as well as offering horse drawn wagon rides. This would make for a memorable smores night! Be sure to reserve your spot. Stop by the Uptown for their small business week November 28 to December 5, you might find yourself a little holiday treat or two. There will be hand painted rocks hidden throughout the shopping center. Don't forget to follow the facebook page for Kennewick Parks and Recreation they have partnered with Numerica Credit Union to offer 12 days of Christmas giveaway.
Beaver Bark will have Mr. and Mrs. Claus as well as the GORGEOUS live reindeer they bring yearly, Olaf and the Grinch will also be joining Santa on Friday's and Saturdays. Richland Parks and Recreation will be continuing the light show in John Dam Plaza but this year it will be informal. Don't worry; you can still dance the night away under the twinkling lights.
Keep in mind with Covid restrictions that many events are requesting that you RSVP to alleviate crowds. Please utilize the links provided in the summary to view all of the details for the event. It is also important to check to make sure an event hasn't been cancelled last minute. Just a reminder, we are all in this together and we will definitely get through this one day at a time. Enjoy the holidays and cheers to 2021! Have fun and stay safe.
best regards,
